Maria Borghoff

I am a therapist, healing artist, and death doula devoted to supporting people through the many thresholds of life since 2011.

My work is grounded in liberation and ecopsychology, and my approach to counseling is holistic, adaptive, transparent and collaborative. Serving people who are healing from trauma, people who are dying, and people who are seeking more fulfilling relationships in life, I work with clients to heal, grow, and transform.

I hold a BFA in Studio Art and MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I have gratefully worked in a range of settings including community mental health, schools, museums, intimate partner violence shelters, residential programs, hospice, psychiatric rehabilitation, corporate offices, and in-home therapy. Born and raised in North Carolina, I now make my home on the unceded lands of the Ute, Arapahoe, and Cheyenne people, now known as Lakewood, Colorado, where I enjoy witnessing the subtle shift of seasons and singing songs to carry me through moments both mundane and mysterious.

Using evidence-based practices specific to my client’s needs and goals, I combine mindfulness, somatic therapy, expressive arts, EMDR, acceptance and commitment therapy, interpersonal and systems-centered therapy, nature-based healing, psychedelic integration, and spiritually-focused care. Weaving modern neuroscience with earth wisdom, I support people to slow down, reconnect, and remember true nature.

Maria offers individual therapy and coaching, couples counseling, death doula and end-of-life services, psychedelic assisted therapy, sound healing, meditation classes, retreats, immersions, performance art, yoga training, and community-based business consulting.
